Frosted is a crescent-shaped shawl with simple stitch patterns and intuitive shaping. It is worked on the bias, starting at the tip of the shawl with a few cast-on stitches, and is finished with spaced picots along the bind-off edge at the opposite side. The shaping is done with simultaneous increases along one side and partial bind-offs at the opposite side of the knitted fabric, gradually increasing the total number of stitches as you progress. The curved, almost swirling shape, occurs naturally as a result of the different stitch patterns’ tensions. We are making the small version so each kit contains (1) skein of KFI Indulgence Kettle Dyed fingering (75% wool, 25% polyamide, 494 yards) and (1) skein of either Ella Rae Silky Kid (76% Super Kid Mohair, 24% Silk, 219 yards) or (1) skein of Berroco Aerial (65% Super Kid Mohair, 35% Silk, 284 yards). Total yardage required for the small is 400 yards for the main color (fingering) and 190 yards for the contrast (mohair). The pattern is available on Ravelry for $6.50.
